Frequently Asked Questions
Is Telicent CORE Open Source ?
There are two versions of CORE - open-source and enterprise. The open-source (Apache 2.0) version has all the security features of the enterprise one, but only includes one Smart-Cache - Smart-Cache Graph. In addition, the Enterprise version includes our GRAPH and SEARCH applications
How do I install CORE ?
The open source Kubernetes install scripts are on our OSS Github site. Refer to the Getting Started section for more information
How do I install CORE if I don’t know anything about Kubernetes ?
We are currently working on a Rancher desktop version of CORE. The enterprise version is already being tested, and the open source one will follow in 2025. CORE is a complex system with a lot of moving parts, so when we say desktop, we mean you’ll need quite a beefy machine to run it - at least 16GB RAM, modern multi-core CPU, and a decent graphics accelerator for the more interactive apps.
Who uses CORE ?
CORE has been built to US/UK Government security standards, so it perhaps no surprise that our major customers are in the defence and security space. The platform is also used in the UK Government National Digital Twin Programme, and the NESO Virtual Energy Systems programme.
Who is Telicent ?
Telicent is a UK startup, founded in 2020. Telicent work to the principle that anything they are paid to develop by a customer should be released as open source (Apache 2.0) unless the customer stipulates otherwise. In order to keep a strong product focus, Telicent will often turn down development work that does not contribute in a sensible way to the CORE platform. The Telicent business mode is increasingly based on support agreements around the enterprise version of the platform, but there is still some sponsored development work going on. Telicent are owned by the founders and has not taken investment.
