Telicent Graph
Telicent Graph is one of our enterprise (closed-source) applications. Its purpose is to allow users to search, query & visualise relationships within their data.
Key features
- Seamless integration with Telicent Search to easily navigate between web-like search capability and visualisations.
- View more about your data quickly - expand, view and filter for the relationships you’re interested in.
- View temporal relationships within a timeline
- Geospatial & temporal insights: Map locations and track changes over time.
How to use the Graph Application
Adding nodes to the Graph.
To begin exploring your data, start by adding entities to the stage. You can do this in two ways:
- Search Use the search bar in the top navigation to quickly find and add entities.
- Using the Sparql editor Alternatively, use the SPARQL editor to write and run custom queries. To find out how to construct SPARQL queries click here
Tip: In order to maintain performance and keep the data manageable try to keep it under 50 nodes.
Managing your entities/nodes
Select, group, and explore entities and their connections.
- Click a node to select it.
- Hold Shift + Click to select multiple nodes.
- Shift + Right Click + Drag to box-select multiple nodes at once
- Deleting nodes You can either right-click and select remove on the navigation wheel, or select the node/nodes you want to delete and click the bin icon on the node details panel on the right-hand side.
- Reset all will delete all the nodes so you can start again.
Exploring relationships
Once you have nodes on the stage you can start exploring their relationships
- Right-click on a node to open the navigation wheel.
- Use the wheel to expand connected nodes.
You have several options when expanding node relationships:
- Add All – Adds all connected relationships.
- Add Incoming / Outgoing – Adds all relationships in one direction.
- Select Relationships – Click “Select Incoming / Outgoing” to:
- Choose specific nodes.
- Filter by relationship or type (e.g., InLocation, ParentOf).
Navigating the canvas
- Left click + Drag to move around the canvas. If you lose your way you can Zoom in and out of the graph using your mouse wheel or the plus and minus buttons.
- Centre and fit will recentre the graph.
- The navigator thumbnail gives you a miniature view of the whole canvas. The inner box represents your current view. You can grab the inner box to focus on a particular set of nodes.
Graph layout options
There are several preset layout options to help you arrange your information.
- Cola: Uses a constraint-based layout for flexible, aesthetically balanced positioning of nodes, especially good for dense or clustered networks.
- Dagre: Arranges nodes in a clear, top-down or left-to-right flow ideal for hierarchical or directional graphs like process flows or dependency trees.
- Breadth-First: Organizes nodes in layers based on their distance from a root node, useful for visualizing hierarchies and tree-like structures.
- Circle: Places all nodes in a circular arrangement, emphasizing symmetry and equal visibility, often used for overviews or smaller networks.
View Node Details
Click on any node to view its description, metadata and attributes in the details panel on the right-hand side.
Use the links in the panel to:
- Click the “open in search” to view full entity details in search.
- Click the magnifying glass to start a new query centred around this entity name.
Viewing nodes on the map
Enable the map using the top-right navigation.
Selecting a node with location data will centre the map on that place. Use in combination with multi-select to assess the proximity of multiple events geographically.
Minimising the map source
To minimise the Esri source information, click the (i) icon on the map.
Map views
Click the map thumbnail to switch between high contrast, satellite and street map views.
Moving the map
To move the map around the stage by grabbing the dotted area
Hiding and showing the map
You can collapse the map and add it to the footer. If you want more workspace, you can hide it completely using the top bar application navigation
Enlarge the map by right-clicking and dragging the bottom right corner.
View timeline
You can enable the timeline panel in the top right of the navigation. Select one or more entities to view them on the timeline. If you use timeline regularly then you can collapse this view into a panel at the bottom for easy access.
Note: Please bear in mind not all entities have temporal data attached to them.
Signing out and user profile
To sign-out open the user profile in the top right corner and click the sign out button. You can also see your login details and the software version number.
