Add new dataset

NOTE: On initial deployment/data cleardown; the Catalog will be empty as no Datasets will have been created.

If a user has the appropriate authorisation they will be able to add resources to the Telicent CATALOG. This is accessed via the ‘Add a resource’ button.

Notes on properties

• Title: A short, meaningful, name for the resource.
• Description: A longer, free-text account or description of the resource.
• Publisher: The entity responsible for making the resource available.
• Owner: In the context of a Dataset, the senior individual responsible for a logical grouping of data, or Dataset.
• Contact point: Relevant contact information for the cataloged resource. This could be contact details for the publisher, owner, or someone else entirely.
• Release date: Date of formal issuance (e.g., publication) of the resource. NB: This could be in the future, e.g. a book has been commissioned by a book publisher but not yet been published. It’s usually known when the book will be published (let’s say Christmas 2025) but it hasn’t yet happened.
• Data handling policy title: A short, meaningful, name for the data handling policy.
• Data handling policy description: The detail of the data handling policy.
• Distribution identifier: A unique identifier for the distribution of data for this dataset. It is recommended it is generated using the Generate ID button but if an existing unique identifier is available this can be used instead.
• Distribution media type: The media type of the distribution as defined by IANA.

Once the user is happy with the contents of the form it can be saved using the ‘Save’ button. Or if the record no longer needs to be created the action can be cancelled using the ‘Cancel’ button.
