Modifying Users
Once retrieved from the external identity provider, only a limited number of properties can be modified. These are grouped into logical sections which can be modified independently: user details, groups, and roles and permissions.
Modifying user details
Here the following can be modified:
- Classification of items up to which a user can view
- The user’s nationality
- The organisation to which the user is deployed
- The user’s personnel type: whether they are a government employee or not.
Modifying group membership
The section entitled “Groups” presents a list of groups the user currently belongs to. These groups are defined and managed in the Groups section of Telicent ADMIN, see section Adding Groups.
If a user is no longer required to belong to a group, membership can be revoked by clicking the ‘x’ next to the group name.
If a user is to be added to a group the ‘Add user to group’ button leads to a small sub-panel which allows the relevant group to be chosen.
Modifying roles and permissions
The ability for users to perform actions within Telicent CORE is based on the permissions a user has.
The user permissions are collected into different types of role: user, admin user, and admin system. The role names reflect the broad responsibilities a user might have with that role.
Users can be granted or denied roles by ticking the box next to the role name. This, in turn, grants or denies specific permissions.
Further information on the roles and permissions can be found on the Roles and Permissions page.
The permissions for a role can be over-ridden by clicking the down-arrow next to the role to expand the relevant permissions. Each permission can then be selected or deselected as required.
Disabling users
Lastly, users can be temporarily barred from using Telicent CORE by ‘disabling’ them.
Note that the scope of the action is just within the Telicent CORE platform, it doesn’t affect properties mastered by the external identity provider.
